I did a search on the internet for some "show dwarfs" and came across DAD's Rabbitry. I bought a smoke pearl buck from them, and found a pair of Siamese sables at a local show, as well as a smoke doe from a breeder getting out of dwarfs. I have always loved the shaded and now I am determined to raise quality shaded netherland dwarfs. I now have sold out of those 2 pairs of original shaded dwarfs, and I now have dwarfs from some of the top and well-known lines in the nation. These include Tanglewood's (Mike Misner), Mirco Ranch & Reese's, Coin/Nelson, Imports from Theo Jansen, and my own line. I am crossing Coin/Nelson REWs into my shaded for the type, and am slowing coming out with something. These dwarfs are sure a challenge! My name is Vicki Moore. I am a 4-H member and have fallen for the wonderful breed of Netherland Dwarfs, "Gem of the Fancy". We live on a hillside at 1,500 ft above sea level, and raise these gorgeous little gems, which came to the name "Hillside Gems". We are located in a small town outside of Portland, Oregon, called Scappoose. I have lived here almost all my life and love the outdoors. I am a huge country girl. Being a 4-H member, I have had a chance to explore many other 4-H projects. Along with rabbits, I work with Pygmy Goats, Dairy Goats, and on a smaller scale, Poultry (chickens). I love to work with the younger kids in teaching them about their project. I attend the county fair in St. Helens every year and always do well. I have been attending State Fair since 2003. I even walked away with Grand Champion Intermediate Poultry Showman in 2004 at the Oregon State Fair. 4-H is a big part of my life, and because of this, I am very good at it. Aside from 4-H and the animals, I play soccer on my high school's varsity team. I love to sing, and I sing with my high school's Chamber Choir. I go camping with my friend's families every summer. To go out to a lake on a hot August day is just awesome. I take quite a few advanced courses in school and currently maintain a 4.0 GPA. If you have any questions feel free to email us. |
